Hardware accessories maintenance guide: the key to smooth operation of doors and windows

The components of doors and windows include glass, window frames and hardware accessories. Although hardware is small, it is the "core component" for the flexible opening and closing of doors and windows. If it is not properly maintained, it will affect the user experience at best and cause safety hazards at worst. Therefore, daily maintenance cannot be ignored. The following is a detailed maintenance guide for different types of hardware accessories:

1️⃣ Handle maintenance - "contact" care of doors and windows
Stainless steel/metal handles:
The metal surface is easily affected by air humidity and stains, causing it to lose its luster or even rust. It is recommended to wipe it with a soft cloth and metal brightener every month to prevent oxidation and corrosion.

Wooden handles:
The surface is coated with a paint layer or wax layer, so avoid using alcohol or strong alkaline detergents. It is recommended to use a slightly damp soft cloth to wipe gently to avoid water stains and maintain the original wood texture.

2️⃣ Pulley maintenance - key components to ensure smooth opening and closing
Pulleys are prone to dust accumulation or lack of oil after long-term operation, especially when they are frequently used in sliding windows. If you find that the door is not opened and closed smoothly or there is an abnormal sound (such as a "squeaking" sound), it may be caused by insufficient lubrication or dust blockage.

Maintenance suggestions:
Drip an appropriate amount of lubricating oil (such as sewing machine oil or special silicone oil) into the rotating part of the pulley every 2 to 3 months, and use a dry cloth to remove the surface dust to prevent oil accumulation from affecting operation.

3️⃣ Hinge and hinge maintenance - guarantee of flexible rotation
Hinges and hinges play the core supporting role of door and window opening and closing. After long-term use, dust, moisture, and even gravity pulling will affect their smoothness.

Maintenance points:

Check for rust or looseness every quarter;

Drip a small amount of lubricating oil and rotate it several times to distribute it evenly;

If there is obvious deformation or abnormal noise, it should be replaced as soon as possible to avoid sagging or jamming of doors and windows.

4️⃣ Lock core maintenance - the "last checkpoint" of safety protection
The lock core is the top priority of the safety performance of doors and windows. If the rotation is stuck, it is not recommended to add oil directly, otherwise it will easily absorb dust and increase wear.

Recommended practice:
Use graphite powder (which can be scraped from pencil lead) and sprinkle it into the lock core hole. Use it as a solid lubricant, which is safe and does not stick to dust. Note:

❗Not all hardware is suitable for liquid lubricants. Check the material and manufacturer's instructions before use.

🔧 Maintenance tips
Perform a comprehensive inspection regularly (recommended every quarter);

Use soft tools to clean to avoid metal scratching parts;

Avoid gravity impact or forced opening and closing to reduce structural fatigue;

If the living environment is humid, the rust prevention of metal parts should be strengthened.

🌟 Summary:
Do a good job of daily maintenance of hardware accessories, not only can extend their service life, but also is an important step to ensure the safety of doors and windows and improve home comfort. Regular maintenance makes every door and window "easy to open like new".
