What are metal tools? How much do you know about the hardware of transmission lines?
Talking about hardware, iron or aluminum metal accessories are widely used in power transmission lines. It was also mentioned that most hardware needs to withstand a large pulling force during operation, and some must also ensure good electrical contact. So, can you give an example of hardware commonly used in power transmission lines? How much do you know about the hardware of transmission lines?
In fact, when it comes to the types of gold tools, there are really many. Today we mainly look at connecting hardware.

1. How are insulators connected?
The insulator is the core part of the entire hardware string. It realizes the insulation between the wires and the tower, and other hardware connections serve it.
If you peel off the insulator and observe its internal structure, you will find that its connection method is "ball-and-socket", which is a special hardware in the transmission line. As shown in the picture below, the gray protruding part inside the insulator is the ball head, and the gray part like the base is the cap socket. Put the ball head of the previous piece into the hat socket of the next piece, connect them head to tail, and the pieces will form a string.
As shown in the figure below, insulators are connected in a string:

So what are the benefits of the "ball-socket" connection method? Careful observation reveals that this connection method is relatively flexible, has no direction constraints, has large winding properties, and can be rotated. This makes loading and unloading very convenient and is conducive to live work.

Of course, the ball head and cap socket of the insulator cannot be put in just by putting them on. At this time, a "pin" is needed. There are two types of W-type pins and R-type pins. After placing the ball head into the hat socket, insert the pin so that the ball head can be pressed against and stuck.

The last thing to say is that in order to ensure a stable ball-socket connection, there must be corresponding standards. The specific size is divided into strengths according to the "connection mark".
