Under What Circumstances Do Electric Fittings Use Tension Clamps

Under what circumstances do electric fittings use tension clamps

The strain clamp is used to fix the wire or lightning protection wire on the tension insulator string of the nonlinear tower, and it acts as an anchor, and is also used to fix the cable of the cable tower.

Tension clips are used for corner, splice and terminal connections. The spiral aluminum-clad steel wire has extremely strong tensile strength, no concentrated stress, protects the optical cable, and assists in shock absorption. A full set of optical cable tensile fittings includes: tensile pre-twisted wire and matching connecting fittings. The grip force of the cable clamp is not less than 95% of the rated tensile strength of the optical cable, which is convenient and quick to install and reduces the construction cost. It is suitable for ADSS optical cable lines with a span of ≤100m and a line angle of <25°.

According to different structures and installation conditions, strain clamps can be roughly divided into two categories. The first category: The strain-resistant clamp must bear the full tension of the wire or lightning conductor, and the grip force of the clamp is not less than 90% of the rated tensile strength of the installed wire or lightning conductor, but it is not used as a conductor. These clips can be removed after the wires are installed and used individually. This kind of clamp has bolt type tension clamp and wedge type tension clamp.

The second category: the tension clamp is used as a conductor in addition to bearing all the tension of the wire or lightning protection wire. Therefore, once installed, this type of clamp cannot be removed, also known as a dead-wire clamp. Since it is an electrical conductor, the installation of the clamp must be carried out carefully in accordance with the relevant installation rules.
