Precision Forging Process Methods

There are many precision forging processes currently used in production. According to the forming temperatureit can be divided into hot forging, cold forging, warm forging, composite forging, isothermal forging, etc.
Hot forging process
The precision forging process with forging temperature above the recrystallization temperature is called hotforging. Hot forging materials have low deformation resistance and good plasticity, and are easy to form morecomplex workpieces, but due to strong oxidation, the surface quality and dimensional accuracy of theworkpiece are low. The commonly used process method for hot forging is closed die forging
Cold forging process
Cold forging is a precision forging process performed at room temperature. The cold forging process has thefollowing characteristics. the shape and size of the workpiece are easier to control. avoiding errors caused byhigh temperature, the workpiece has high strength and precision, and the surface quality is good. in the coldforging forming process, the workpiece has poor plasticity, high deformation resistance, high reguirements formolds and equipment, and it is difficult to form parts with complex structures.

Warm forging process

Warm forging process is a precision forging process performed at a suitable temperature below the recrystallizationtemperature. Warm forging precision forming technology not only breaks through the limitations of cold forgingsuch as large deformation resistance, not too complex part shape, and the need to increase intermediate heattreatment and surface treatment steps, but also overcomes the problem of reduced surface quality anddimensional accuracy due to strong oxidation in hot forging. it has the advantages of both cold forging and hotforging, and overcomes the disadvantages of both.
Composite precision forging process
With the increasing complexity of precision forging workpieces and the improvement of precision requirementssimple cold, warm and hot forging processes can no longer meet the requirements. The composite precisionforging process combines cold, overlow and hot forging processes to complete the forging of a workpiece.which can give full play to the advantages of cold, warm and hot forging and abandon the disadvantages ofcold.
Isothermal precision forging process
lsothermal precision forging refers to the die forging of the blank at a constant temperature. lsothermal dieforging is commonly used in the precision forming of difficult-to-deform materials such as titanium alloys.aluminum alloys, and magnesium alloys in the aerospace industry. in recent years, it has also been used for theprecision forming of non-ferrous metals in the automotive and machinery industries. lsothermal forging is mainlyused for metal materials with a narrow forging temperature.
