Common Metal Forming Method: Metal Spinning
Metal spinning is a common method of metal forming. Coupled with stamping and deep drawing, Qingdao Xueli Machinery is capable of dealing with difficult design challenges in various industries. We serve industries and applications such as defense, aerospace agriculture, air distribution and HVAC, power generation, food service, lighting, medical, petrochemical, construction, heavy equipment, automotive and rail industries.
In addition to metal spinning, stamping and deep drawing, we are also able to provide customers with various production processes, including assembly, annealing, welding, cylinder forming, heavy shearing, machining, prototype development.
Our commonly used metal spinning materials are as follows:
aluminum
brass
cold rolled steel
hot rolled steel
Stainless steel
Our materials and diameter sizes:
Aluminum: 0.5mm-10mm, iron or steel: 0.5mm-6mm, brass: 0.5-8mm;
- Maximum spinning diameter: 1800mm.
We can service customers who manufacture parts such as aerospace parts, architectural domes, flare rings, brewery and chemical equipment, camera housings, clock faces and frames, cooking vessels, fairings, cymbals, dish ends, drums and cylinders, fans, filter housings, funnels, floats, gas pipes and burners, hemispheres, funnels, lighting reflectors, nose cones, reducers, muffler components, swages, flares, table tops and bases, tanks ends, venturis, litter boxes and cremation urns or coffins.
The advantages of the metal spinning production process are as follows:
- Fast Turnaround Time: Metal spinning has a much shorter turnaround time on tooling and samples or prototypes than other metal forming processes. Usually we need 2-3 weeks to produce tools and samples.
- Reduced tooling costs: Due to the simplicity of tool design, tooling costs are much lower compared to other manufacturing processes such as casting or forging processes.
- Tooling flexibility: Depending on the order quantity, tolerances and application of the part, tool material options may vary from aluminum, tool steel, engineered plastics to wood.
- Ease of Design Changes: Changes in part design can be made through tooling changes, especially if the change is a reduction in diameter or size.
-Small to Large Order Quantity: We have manual or semi-automatic equipment to handle small batch orders. For parts that require tight tolerances, we will produce them on our automated CNC spinning equipment.
- Multi-process production: metal spinning can be combined with other processes such as deep drawing, rolling and welding to manufacture more challenging designs
- Improved metallurgical structure: Metal spinning improves metallurgy by realigning the grain structure of metallic materials. Tensile strength has been increased, allowing lighter gauge materials to be used in the same application.
Our production process includes: shearing, metal spinning, machining, trimming, drawing or stamping, welding and inspection.
